Description
Warhol’s Banana | Fine art prints in limited and signed edition
On a canvas with a white background, the artist Amaury Dubois has painted a banana. A simple fruit but intersected by seven lines that cross and break off pieces from which a spurt of yellow and red paint seems to drip: a dripping. To create this painting, Amaury Dubois was inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous painting “Banana”.
The latter had drawn it for the cover of “The Velvet Underground and Nico”, the first album of the New York rock group, released in 1967 and produced by Warhol. It was a “picture of a banana with the caption ‘Peel slowly and you will see'”. Under the sticker was a pink, phallic-looking banana. The recording of the album took place during a series of artistic performances designed by Warhol. The commercial failure of this ‘banana album’ did not prevent it from making rock history.
